Q and A

with Lena Nordlof-Davis

What do you consider your biggest strength?

The ability to work successfully with any kind of horse, talented or not, hot or cold, strong or timid. I have worked with them all through decades of experience.

What’s your competitive edge?

I never stop learning from the horses and I don't believe there is a cookie cutter method. I treat each horse with total respect and work with them within the parameter that is possible for them individually. The work needs to be fun for both the horse and the rider to get the most beautiful results.

What makes you stand out as a trainer?

I have over 20 years of work experience, having started my training mostly with off-the-track thoroughbreds. Many of them were not particularly well suited for dressage but I was still very successful bringing out the best in them as well as in my students. Having managed this business with grooms and assistants and dealing with all that comes with that I am able to steer calmly through rough waters and still manage to take my students and horses to their highest potential.
